Viridian Nude

Viridian Nude

Acrylic on canvas

915mm x 610mm

Created: 2019

Painted in tones of viridian green with touches of blue and purple.

My nude sits on the rocks watching the waves below.

Her shoulder and left side have kisses of a warm copper paint to represent the sun caressing and warming her skin.

As I normally paint in many layers, this canvas has many, many layers of paint to build up the texture of the figure, waves and rocks.

I want to encourage the viewer to gently run their hand over the canvas to feel all the bumps and ridges.

Will she jump in to enjoy the cool water or will she just sit and watch?

SUN LOVING SPECIES IN ITS NATURAL HABITAT

SUN LOVING SPECIES IN ITS NATURAL HABITAT

Oil on Board using wax medium

Measurements: 81cm by 81cm

Most Australians live near the coast so going to the beach is a popular leisure activity. I live on the Gold Coast so I regularly paint sun surf and sand.

I love the human form; this piece shows a local sun loving species in its natural habitat.  Two figures are revelling in the sun, soaking up its warmth; his face is turned toward the sun however she is obeying Australia’s slip, slop and slap slogan and wears a hat to shade her face.

Do you feel their languid repose as they nearly melt into the sand – life’s a beach!

New Dress

NEW DRESS

Oil, wax medium, paper dress pattern on canvas

I was cleaning out my sewing cabinet and found all my old paper dress patterns.  I thought I might try and include some of the lovely paper patterns in a piece of art.

A very large abstract painting painted in many layers to create texture and depth. All the colours from the under layers show through to provide interesting character.

I have sewn many dresses over the years and it is always exciting to make a new dress. This piece shows the wearer showing off her new evening dress. I have used the paper pattern to create the dress, it has many folds and crevices – lots of texture and the end result looks like a gorgeous green taffeta.

I never want my pieces to simply be interior décor art but something individual and full of interest.

Hope you enjoy.

BOTANICA

Acrylic on Canvas

101cm x 152cm x 4cm

Large pastel coloured abstract painted in acrylic on canvas. This painting was painted in many layers to create texture and depth.  All the colours from the under layers show through to provide interesting character. Your imagination can interpret the various shapes and contours into flowers, leaves, butterflies, mushrooms, water ponds.

Each individual will see something different in this painting which was my intention, I like to make the viewer work to enjoy the painting.  I don’t want my pieces to simply be interior décor art but something individual and full of interest.

I hope you can see your botanical garden in this piece.

Child’s Play

Original artwork painted in Oil on heavy duty stretched canvas.

It measures 1015mm x 760mm.

‘Child’s Play’ is a bright, cheerful, colorful image painted in a modern contemporary style in all the colours of the rainbow. It was painted with the view to add colour to the home.

In this large piece I painted geometric shapes to create a pleasant image and used every colour I could manage. Are they children’s building blocks? could be! It would particularly suit a children’s bedroom or the nursery but at the moment I currently have it in my own bedroom as I love this piece and the colours make me happy.

Overcome by Nature

PENTAX Image

Oil, Paper (collage) utilising cold wax medium on board.

Measurements: 67cm by 98cm

An ethereal figure in the landscape is swamped and overwhelmed by nature.

The piece is painted in oil using cold wax medium and small pieces of collage scattered around the canvas to create a complex natural environment.

I prefer to use traditional oil paint and utilise many layers of paint to create interest and depth. I also like to include the human form in my work.

Here I have aimed to achieve an abstracted view of nature which is reacting to the negative impact of human contact, the figure represents humankind.

Rising sea levels, unseasonably high temperatures and drought hint that Nature cannot take much more destructive treatment at the hands of humans.

3 Moons in an Orange Sky

Three moons in an orange sky.

29cm x 29cm

This small piece of atmospheric abstract art in orange, purple and green is a very moody and mysterious piece. It is full of character and takes the viewer to unknown places in their mind. The distinctive image brings up memories long forgotten.

Painted in acrylic on a wood.  It has a timber support ton back to hang on wall or it can be lent on a shelf as shelf art.

It is a very small piece of art and is perfect to fit into those places that need just a little colour or interest to make a corner of the house seem interesting.

The piece is signed on the back and is finished with a clear varnish.
