Listen to your Heart and Trust in your decisions.

Trust your Heart

Everything we have in life comes because of our belief that they are possible.

Yet, believing in yourself sometimes is much easier said than done.

So I have done a little research and come up with list of things that we should all try to do to maintain a healthy belief in ourselves.

  1. Make a list of your past accomplishments.
  2. Talk to people who love you.
  3. Set realistic goals for each day.
  4. Be persistent.
  5. Connect with people.
  6. Build yourself up – practice positive thinking.
  7. Find ways to keep moving forward – never allow yourself to be stuck in a rut.
  8. Be proactive – don’t put off to tomorrow what can be done today
  9. Focus on the positive
  10. Practice speaking up for yourself.

If we try and address these ten points each day, we will be unstoppable!

So join me on my journey. then we can all Listen to our hearts and Trust in our decisions.

Inspirational and Positive Posters – new growing trend.

In today’s busy world it seems that Inspirational and/or Positive Posters are a new growing trend as a method of self-help. Inspirational posters are very much here to stay as a daily tool for happiness. It makes sense because in today’s non-stop, hyper-active world and it’s often hard to find time to read an inspirational self- help-book — but you can always find time to read an inspirational poster.

There are many ways we can change negative thoughts and self-criticism to more realistic and positive thoughts. Focusing on all of them at once may be overwhelming, but focusing on a few at a time and reminding ourselves of these positive approaches regularly can change our self-esteem.

To this end I have now added Inspirational Quotes superimposed on my art as a downloadable print.  A downloadable print enables people to have their chosen image printed in any size and on any medium – such as heavy-duty watercolour paper, canvas or paper.  They can also print the image more than once.

I list here some Positive Thought Strategies that we should always try to embrace in our daily lives:

Accentuate the positive.

Accept flaws and being human.

Accept imperfections.

Replace criticism with encouragement.

Don’t feel guilty about things beyond your control.

Don’t feel responsible for everything.

Do feel responsible for your feelings.

Treat yourself kindly.

Give yourself a break.

Choose the brighter side of things.

Forgive and forget.

Focus on what you CAN do, not what you can’t.

Using just one or two of these strategies on a regular basis can greatly increase your positive self-image and self-esteem.

Dangers of Swimming at Night

I live by the ocean and the inspiration for this poem and painting was an article in the local paper about a tourist to the Gold Coast who went swimming late one night after a celebratory night-out in Surfers Paradise.

It is important to always respect the ocean both during the day and at night.

The Dangers of swimming at night

Dangers of swimming at night.

An ocean is a world of its own

A mystery, an unknown zone

Wonder at its undiscovered depths

Respect and love its strength.

The ocean gives , the ocean takes

Upon shores its endless waves break

We sail upon, we fish, we play

Sun shines on blue throughout  the day.

At night, we swim for fun

No fear,  let  inhibitions run

Who cares what lurks beneath,

Way down, down in the deep.

However danger goes before.

Check who’s watching the shore

Swim in close don’t go too far

Red Eyed Tree Frog (Australian)

As a child, I can remember the wonderment and joy I felt when I came across a small tree frog in the garden.  This fascination with tree frogs has continued into adulthood. However it has been many years since I have experienced the joy of discovering a small tree frog in my own garden.  It is said that frogs are the barometer of our planet’s health, so it is important to protect and maintain their future existence.

Froggy #1aTherefore I  often paint Tree Frogs as a reminder to us that we must do what we can to protect our endangered species by reducing our use of pesticides, stopping the clearing of wildlife habit and taking action to preserve their fragile environment.

So I thought I would give you all a little information about  these most beautiful little creatures.

Red Eyed Tree Frogs are bright green in colour on their back with a yellow coloured, granular underside. In adults the back of the thighs may be purple/black in colour and the inner part of their hands and the top of their front legs are yellow.

They have large finger and toe pads with their fingers being three quarter webbed and their toes being almost fully webbed. They have horizontal pupils and the iris is golden near the pupil but becomes red towards the outside of the eye.

In rare cases they may have randomly placed yellow spots on their back. Their call is several long moaning “Aaa-rk” followed by soft trills.

Red Eyed Tree Frogs inhabit the wet sclerophyll forests, rainforests and grasslands of eastern Australia.

Red Eyed Tree Frogs feed upon insects.

Breeding occurs after rain during spring and summer in temporary ponds, ditches and streams. Males call to attract females and eggs are laid in small clusters attached to twigs and stems.

Red Eyed Tree Frogs are also known as:

Red Eyed Green Tree Frog

Orange Eyed Tree Frog

Red Eyed Tree Frog is a common name for two types of frog. This one, Litoria chloris, is found in Australia and Agalychnis callidryas is found in South America.

Please submit your reasons for the benefit of giving ‘hand-made’ Gifts”?

This project started when I was chatting with a friend the other day and she was complaining about not knowing what to give her Mother for Mother’s Day.  I suggested she consider giving her buy at ArtiSueBeeMother something ‘hand made’.  I mentioned all the wonderful sites on Etsy.com.

She said that it sounded too difficult and she was a renowned shopper and loved visiting shopping centres and had always given manufactured items.  Our conversation therefore moved on to the benefits of giving ‘hand made’ over ‘shop bought’

This gave me the idea to ask you, my fellow bloggers, to help me compile a list of compelling reasons for giving ‘hand made’.  Let’s see if we can reach 50 reasons!

I’ll start off the first 5 reasons, some of these are reasons I have sourced from fellow artists:

  1. Giving handmade is the essence of gift-giving: When you give a friend or loved one a gift, you are really saying “I care about you.” A handmade gift conveys so much more than something pulled off the end-cap display of a mega store. Of course there are the obvious economic benefits of supporting independent makers and artists, but buying and giving handmade is, at heart, a loving act.
  2. Creativity of Artists: It is fun to see the creativity and excellence of the talented artists and designers out there. it reminds us of the days of old when craftsmanship, creativity and quality were paramount – You are buying items that are not mass-produced and impersonal but are indeed, very personal not only to the buyer, but to the maker.
  3. Support talented people: The biggest reason I buy handmade is to support the many talented people out there who are trying to get started with their business. I find the care and love taken in making everything I buy comes through when I get it. I feel a sense of extra worth and pleasure with each purchase knowing I have helped someone get one step closer to their dream. Supporting each other is after all the most rewarding gift we can give each other!
  4. Price vs. value: If you buy your best friend a handmade article instead of a mass produced one and spend twice the money, it’ll be worth every penny. Treasures are handmade with love and thought, not mass produced.
  5. Share the Artists joy of creation : I give handmade gifts because the artist/crafter who made the item probably really enjoys what they do. I know they put their imagination, best craftsmanship, and love into making that gift unique. It has heart and that’s what I want to share with the special people in my life.”

As an Artist myself, I always attempt to give hand-made items to my Family and Friends. I have also, for the past 15 years, made a point of giving hand-made Birthday Cards and Bookmarks;  it is lovely to know that these cards and gifts have been saved by my friends over the years instead of being discarded.

So, I hope you can help this cause. I also will continue to add to the list as I obtain more submissions from family and friends.

You can either make a comment via the blog or send me an email.

I will acknowledge everyone who supplies me with a Reason to add to the List.

I look forward to receiving your personal reasons for ‘Buying/Giving Hand Made’…
